Breast Cancer Awareness
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 10/22/2006
My childhood memories of the month October is that it was known as 'Dairy month'. Nowadays October is known as 'Breast Cancer' month worldwide. How ironical is it that 'Dairy' has changed to 'Breast'. All around the world people set off for a walk to remember those that had been struck by cancer. We are all reminded that nobody is spared. In memory of all those brave women and their families, we're salute them and write their names on our hearts and mention them in our prayers.

Extreme outdoor fitness challenge
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 10/10/2006
I have started my 6 week extreme outdoor fitness challenge this morning. On my way there I was stopped by the police for a breathaliser test. I'm proud to say I passed. I'm looking forward to this fitness challenge and I'm optimistic that it'll be a lot of fun, and hard work. It'll take place twice a week (Wedn & Fri) between 6 -7 am at various outdoor locations.

Huda
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 9/9/2006

My friend Huda is celebrating her birthday tomorrow 10 September. Here's wishing you a lovely day and many happy returns. Enjoy the day with your family.
Huda was a major inspiration for me when it comes to running. She was the one who started me on this crazy journey of marathon running. We use to run together, well she was running, and I was trying to keep up. Happy birthday Huda.

My 'adopted' goddaughter, Candice is celebrating her 13th birthday on Monday, 11 September. Happy birthday sweetheart, Peetma's thinking of you and loves you very much.

Godmothers
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 9/4/2006
Do you know the real meaning of being a godmother? Why are we asked and why do we accept? I have a godchild and another 'adopted' one. I have also agreed to take  parental responsibility for them if something should happen to their parents. I mentioned a couple of days ago that I'll be saying 'happy birthday' to quite a few people this month, and guess what? I've already forgotten my own godchild. And to make matters worse, it's her 16th birthday. Can I be forgiven? I'm suppose to be this very important factor in her life and I forgot her 16th birthday. I can never forget myself for that. So, here goes - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAMMY. Many happy returns and Peetma loves you very much.

Spring clean
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 9/1/2006
The month of September always signify the beginning of spring to me. We use to have a Spring day at school where we'll bring flowers and get to dress up in pink (if you're a girl). Nowadays we often hear people talking about 'spring cleaning' their houses. It reminds me of a desire to open up and start afresh. We're also moving into the second half of the year and need to assess our aims (goals, objectives) set out at the beginning to see where we are and where to go.
