Time
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 7/1/2006
Half the year has gone and one has to wonder where the time had gone. Do you still remember that objectives or 'new years resolutions' you set yourself to achieve this year? I still remember mine and got a bit side-tracked with the move to Australia. I can confirm that I am getting back on track. I have a marathon to prepare for in four weeks and I have of course recently joined a gym as well. Lets make the last half of the year count and try to achieve some of our objectives.

A special mention
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 6/25/2006

I just have to introduce Aoife (a Cork lass) to you. Now the reason why Aoife needs a special mention is because she made a decision that will probably change her life. Aoife has decided to stop smoking and live healthier. Her wish is to loose some weight before she starts her permanent job in September. We wish her lots of luck and she'll keep us posted on her progress.
Another special mention is Angie. She is the membership consultant at Beach House gym that I've just joined. She's a keen Football (soccer) supporter. Somewhat disappointing is the fact that she supported Barcelona in the Champions League final against Arsenal. We'll forgive you for that Angie and good luck with your soccer game tonight.

JUNE 16th
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 6/15/2006

We all have dates that's special to us. Birthdays or anniversaries. Happy or sad memories. June 16th means alot to many South Africans. Not only is it a public holiday (Youth Day), but it's the day that many South African runners take to the road between Durban and Pietermaritzburg to enjoy an 89km 'fun run' as Comrades. We remember the young people that died across the country in our struggle to democracy in South Africa.
My only brother, Lionel, was born on June 16 1979. He would've been 27 now. He was taken from us 6 years ago, but his memory lives on in our hearts.Happy birthday Lionel, Esmond Zimri, Alex Botha and everybody else who celebrates a special event.

FIFA WORLD CUP 2006
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 6/9/2006

As I watch the German opening ceremony to the World Cup Football, I can't help but look forward to the 2010 Championship that will be hosted by my country. I am looking forward to displaying our culture and colourfulness to the world. It will be such an honour to have the world's greatest football players on our soil. I'm hoping to be there, and I sure hope you will too. Let's enjoy this event and be positive about our abilities to shine in 2010.

Ravensmead
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 5/26/2006
I have brought my Swedish partner, Thomas home recently. Yes, home to Ravensmead. It was his first visit to South Africa and also the first time he's met any of my family and friends. I am proud to say that he had an enjoyable time with me in Ravensmead. We're moving to Australia now, but my roots are firmly planted and not likely to be changed. Take pride in who you are and especially where you come from. Thank you ravensmead.co.za for linking me. Stay tuned for some gorgeous pics of Cape Town and our short break at home.

Friendship
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 5/3/2006
A man was exploring caves by the seashore.  In one of the caves he found  a
canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls.  It was like someone  had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake.

They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him.  As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls.  Each contained ...

Number 5
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 5/1/2006

MAY.
5th month of the year, can you believe it? Do you remember your New Year's resolution?
I ran 55km last week. I still have loads to do in fulfilling my New Year's resolution, but at least I'm still on tract.
'The only way you can hurt your body
is if you don't use it.'
Think about it.

New adventure
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 4/23/2006
As I'm about to embark on yet another adventure, I take refuge in 1 Peter 5:6-7. 'Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.'

Cynthia Fatyi
My Diary By Elderene Claassen on 4/23/2006
My friend Cynthia needs a special mention today. Although I haven't heard from her in ages I know she's thinking of me and I hope she is doing well. I always think of her as a phenomenal woman. So, girlfriend, whatever you doing, know that I'm thinking of you too. I hope the weather is getting better for you by now. As I'm off to warmer climate, I'm thinking of all my friends in the 'not-so-warm' climates.
