ELDERENE CLAASSEN

I have had many interesting comments about my name, but there's always the question 'What does it mean?'
What does it mean? I've asked my mother that question many times. I'm the eldest child of 5 kids and while growing up my siblings were always reminded that I'm the eldest and by that they meant I should be respected.
I was born on a stormy Wednesday night (apparently) on March 18 many years ago. That will make me a Pisces. Two of my sisters, Sheron and Dianne (twins) are also Pisces (March 7). Shireen was born on September 22 (can't remember the star sign) and my late brother Lionel was born on June 16.

Well, that's the family for you. I have a beautiful little niece, 6 years old, called Jaden. She's starting big school (grade 1) soon. We all grew up in a town called Ravensmead, Cape Town, South Africa.

I'm a Radiation Therapist by profession and had the privilege of working in South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Canada and now in the United Kingdom where I share an apartment with my partner Thomas who is Swedish.

As promised, we continue. Shireen reminded me she was a Virgo (star sign). Besides Jaden, we also have Tamelin, Candice and Clayton. They are the kids of my two elder cousins, Denise and Zeldalene. We grew up together and when we were little we actually thought we were real sisters. I still think of them as my sisters. Tamelin (Tammy) is my goddaughter and I've also adopted Candice as my goddaughter. They call me 'Peetma'. 

Education:

A very important part of our upbringing was education. The importance of it and what it can do for us one day. We were all blessed with good understanding and didn't struggle to get through school. Well, some of us were a bit lazy and took longer than what they should to finish high school, but the fact of the matter is, we did. We were also blessed with a woman in our lives that not only encouraged us, but supported us, loved us and were more that just a mother to us. I'm not gonna elaborate on her, because I'm intending to write a book about this special woman. A true memoir that will do her memory justice.
We all (myself, Dianne, Sheron, Lionel and Shireen) attended Pinedene Primary school. Jaden's also attending the same primary school now. Myself, Dianne, Sheron and Lionel attended Florida Secondary school while Shireen attended  Ravensmead Secondary school.
